Help those in need
In Rio de Janeiro, 1.4 million out of 6.32 million live in favelas. If all the favelas in Rio de Janeiro were a city, it would be Brazil's ninth most populous city.
There are usually hardworking people and families who live in the favela. Unfortunately, this is also the haunt of criminals, especially drug gangs. the citizens are therefore often exposed to violence, shootings, drug trafficking, poverty, poor infrastructure and diseases.
Young women are particularly vulnerable in the favelas. According to the Institute of Public Security (ISP) of Rio de Janeiro, there were 4,543 rape cases registered in the state of Rio in 2018. In 70% of the cases, the rape victims were under the age of 17. The same report also states that 12 women are raped every day. Many of these rape victims become pregnant at a very young age and do not have the finances to take care of themselves or the child. When the children fall ill, for example, there is not enough money for medicine, food and clothing. Necessary medicines are not always prioritized. We at SHARE to CARE have a desire to help Brazilians who do not have money for all their basic needs. If we give clothes, they can rather spend money on food and medicine.
Once a suit was given to the fundraiser. This suit was given to a young Brazilian man. He was so happy and touched, and his eyes were completely blank. He said that now he had a suit, and thus could propose to his girlfriend. Today they are married. A small thing for us can make a big difference for others!
