HOW SHARE TO CARE STARTED

SHARE to CARE was started in August 2019. I, Marte, lived in Brazil in 2017-2018. When I got home, my family and I sent the clothes we no longer used to Rio de Janeiro. I decided I wanted to make a bigger difference. I contacted the Brazilian Rafael who was also very eager to help.

I created a Facebook page where I said I accepted used clothes. Within 20 days I had gained over 230 kilos of used clothes. The word about SHARE to CARE spread in both Stavanger/Sandnes and in Rio de Janeiro, which led to more and more people voluntarily bringing clothes to Rio de Janeiro.

By March 2020, we had sent over 700 kg of clothes to families in need. The distribution of clothes took place regularly in favelas in nursing homes and institutions. During the Christmas holidays in 2019, 150 people in a mountain town received clothes from SHARE to CARE.

In March 2020, there was an abrupt stop in the shipment of clothes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, it gave us an opportunity to try to help even more. SHARE to CARE is also now collecting money to buy food parcels for the poorest so that they get vital food.
